Harvest Pumpkin Soup
Without putting much thought into it, I handed back the extra dollar that the girl at au bon pain had just given me in change. I did not even do it for any deeper meaning behind this gesture; rather, I did so because this seemed like the natural course of events. The two of us shared a brief laugh over it and a relief that things were still happening the way they were supposed to be. Then, each of us went on with her day, awaiting a resolution for all the real questions in our lives, me holding the hot soup to warm up my hands.
