Vermont
So my cell phone does not work in the state of Vermont; this, I am told, made my trip a liberating experience, as did the fact that I had to replace television and internet with jigsaw puzzles and Virginia Woolf. Though I still insist that the time I went on vacation and forgot to pack any makeup whatsoever was a far more liberating and not-modern-life experience, not in spite but because of the jacuzzi in my hotel room. Because being a girl and feeling appropriately sexy in a jacuzzi while having worn no makeup for over 24 hours is a lot more challenging than it sounds.
